The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) is one of the three central agencies responsible for coordinating and managing public sector performance. The other agencies are the State Services Commission and the Treasury.
Our responsibilities are diverse however our overall area of responsibility is to provide, at an administrative level, the support for the Prime Minister and Cabinet that underpins our system of parliamentary democracy.
This responsibility means that our people are involved in a very diverse range of interesting and stimulating work - from providing free and frank advice to the Prime Minister on constitutional issues to coordinating emergency management responses in a major disaster, dealing with national security threats that affect New Zealand to developing and implementing the government’s cyber policy advice, providing support services for the Governor-General to running Government House and so much more.
