The King's Service Medal (obverse and reverse)
The King's Service Medal (KSM) is awarded for voluntary service to the community or service through elected and appointed office at a local or regional level.
The Medal is of Sterling silver, 36mm in diameter. The effigy of The King on the obverse (the profile sculpted in 2013 by Ian Rank-Broadley, who retains copyright and moral rights) surrounded by the Royal styles and titles “CHARLES III KING OF NEW ZEALAND”. The New Zealand Coat of Arms surrounded by the inscription “THE KING’S SERVICE MEDAL” and “for service – MŌ NGĀ MAHI NUI” appears on the reverse. The name of the recipient is engraved on the rim of the Medal.
