PROPOSAL APPROVED
DECISION ON LYTTELTON CARPARKING: PROPOSAL TO EXERCISE THE POWER UNDER SECTION 71 OF THE GREATER CHRISTCHURCH REGENERATION ACT 2016 TO AMEND THE CHRISTCHURCH DISTRICT PLAN TO REMOVE THE ON-SITE PARKING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE LYTTELTON COMMERCIAL ZONE
The Proposal amends the Christchurch District Plan by removing the minimum on-site parking spaces required for new developments in the Lyttelton Commercial Zone, except for residential developments involving more than two residential units.
Pursuant to sections 69 and 71 of the Greater Christchurch Regeneration Act 2016 (GCR Act) the Associate Minister for Greater Christchurch Regeneration, has exercised her powers to approve the Proposal to amend the Christchurch District Plan as it applies to the Lyttelton Commercial Banks Peninsula Zone, (the area generally bounded by or adjacent to London Street, Norwich Quay, Oxford Street and Canterbury Street, Lyttelton, Christchurch) by exercising her power to use section 71 of the GCR Act to make the necessary amendment to:
- Rule 7.4.3.1 Minimum and maximum number and dimensions of car parking spaces required, in Chapter 7 – Transport, to remove the minimum on-site parking requirements for developments in the Commercial Banks Peninsula Zone in Lyttelton, where that development does not contain more than two residential units. For activities that include more than two residential units, the minimum parking standards would not apply to the first two units.
The date on which the exercise of the power took effect was on 18th day of December 2019.
