The last two quarters have seen a reduction in the number of children and young people with serious and persistent offending behaviour, including a reduction of 49 children and young people since the last quarterly report.

The New Zealand Crime and Victims’ Survey (NZCVS) shows ~10,000 fewer adults experienced violent crime since the last quarterly report; a reduction of ~24,000 since the peak in June 2024.

Prolonged economic conditions have continued to increase flows of people onto Jobseeker Support, with an increase of 8,500 since the last quarterly report.

There is no change in reported performance this quarter as the Target measure is released annually.

The Target has been met, with the Government achieving an 81% reduction from baseline. Over 80% of households exiting emergency housing can be identified as going into some form of social, transitional or private housing.

The Government released the second emissions reduction plan (ERP2) on 11 December 2024, including updated emissions projections.

Summary of the Government Targets Quarterly Reports for the quarter to December 2024.

Results declined since the last quarterly report as expected due to winter illness leading to more people presenting to emergency departments and staying longer in hospital.

Results have remained steady compared to the previous quarter, despite increase in acute demand over the winter months impacting elective treatment capacity.

There was a 5.4 percentage point increase from Term 3 2023 to Term 3 2024.
