As announced by the Prime Minister on 19 January 2023, the 2023 general election is to be held on Saturday, 14 October 2023. The “pre-election period” is generally regarded as being the three months before a general election. The pre-election period will commence this year on 14 July 2023, and applies to government decisions and actions in the lead up to the 14 October election.
