Extract from Cabinet Minute CAB-19-MIN-0526 Proposed Overseas Travel: Governor-General#
On 14 October 2019, Cabinet:
1noted that the Governor-General will be absent from New Zealand from 20 to 27 October 2019 to travel to:
1.1Japan, to represent New Zealand at the enthronement of the Emperor of Japan;
1.2the Republic of Korea, to attend the naming ceremony of the New Zealand naval vessel HMNZS Aotearoa;
2noted that the Governor-General will be accompanied by Sir David Gascoigne, the Official Secretary, and an Aide-de-Camp from Government House;
3noted that the total cost of the visit for the Governor-General’s party will be approximately [9(2)(f)(iv)], as a charge to Vote: Prime Minister and Cabinet;
4noted that the Governor-General’s party will be accompanied by two Diplomatic Protection Service officers, whose travel expenses will be charged to Vote: Police;
5noted that in the absence of the Governor-General, the Rt Hon Dame Helen Winkelmann will act as Administrator of the Government from 20 to 27 October 2019.
